Humana, Inc.
Health insurer Humana, Inc. saw an opportunity to rapidly expand its consumer reach with the launch of Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit, Part D. Shortly after inking a deal with Wal-Mart in August 2005, Humana's Senior Products Division partnered with Total Image to conquer the unique challenge of designing an interactive kiosk with strict and unique specifications. Humana was limited to a footprint of 4'x4' or 4'x6'; in essence, the size of a pallet.
Humana wished to create a private, interactive and branded kiosk where Humana sales representatives could personally guide seniors through the initial education and enrollment process for their prescription drug benefits under the new governmental regulations. To further complicate matters, the project had to be installed in stores by November 15. Total Image met the challenge by creating a versatile and unique design that was prototyped and subsequently manufactured, shipped and installed in 3,250 workstations in Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores in the US and Puerto Rico, all within a 120-day deadline.
Each unit uses a digital media card reader to deliver looped informational commercials to a wide screen, flat-panel monitor. Frosted acrylic panels fixed to the powder-coated metal structure allow for one-on-one privacy inside the big box retail design. Merchandising collateral is organized and displayed in external slots for easy customer pick-up. In the first 15 days of the workstation's installation, the division has seen growth equal to that of an entire profitable year in the past company history.
“Total Image pulled off nothing short of a miracle. Your team did a spectacular job and your concept was hands-down the best Humana saw from day one.”
